Stephen's Page

Stephen is our snuggle buddy and a very bright kid. Despite his unique needs and challenges of autism, he is very high functioning and can do just about anything he sets his mind to. He may be a bit slow to ride his bike without training wheels, button/snap his clothing and tie his shoes, but that doesn't make any of us better than him. He's a whiz at mathematics and puts forth great effort in his occupational therapy that helps with his motor coordination and sensory processing needs. He also makes wonderful grades in a traditional school where he is mainstreamed with neurotypical kids.

Stephen really likes to build tracks with dominoes and marbles, build with Lincoln Logs and draw diagrams of racetracks and roller coasters. He is also very talented with computer and video games. He's recently gotten more into riding his bike and being outdoors, which we love. He enjoys to play with the dogs and snuggle with the cats. Also, he just ended baseball season for the Miracle League & loved it! He and his father are both active in Cub Scouting during the school year. We are so proud that he earned his Bear Rank last month (May 2011)!
